The Urbar Group, with its parent company URBAR INGENIEROS, develop tree areas of main activities: vibration technology, qualification essays and composting solutions.
In 1957 was built the sociedad regular colectiva Barriola, Urbistondo y Compañía S.R.C., subsequently named URBAR INGENIEROS, S.A. His starting activity focused on the manufacturation of electrical and mechanical devices and the representation of national and international companies, for the distribution and sale of industrial products.
In 1979 was built the limited company Urbar Ingenieros-División Sísmica, S.A., as anagram in for spanish name Disisa, domiciled in Madrid. Its statutory activity was the execution of dynamic vibration essays based on seismic simulation and shocks, for the qualification of components and industrial equipments in general and especially for nuclear power plants. After that, in 1983, the corporate name of the former company was changed to Virlab.
In 1996 through private contract signed between the council of Castelldefels and the Entidad Metropolitana de Servicios Hidráulicos y Tratamientos de Residuos company was built a limited company named Metrocompost, S.A., which statutory activity is the treatment of organic waste coming from municipal garbage collection and equivalents, as the commercialization of the resulting products from the treatment operations. In year 2000, the council of Castelldefels became single shareholder of Metrocompost, S.A., and in order to increase share capital they include URBAR INGENIEROS with a 74% of participation.
In 1992 was built and domiciled in Madrid the limited liability company Tecmihor. His statutory activity was the installation and assembly of construction works in general, as well as the construction and alteration for all kind of buildings.
The 24 November of 2010 the fusion of Metrocompost, S.A. and Tecmihor was carried out, the companies was extinguished transferring by universal succession their respective assets to the newly created Metrocompost. The statutory activity is treatment of organic waste coming from municipal garbage collection and equivalents, the promotion of facilities for the valorization of organic waste through composting, the commercialization of organic material, the development, application and commercialization of own technologies specific for valorization of organic material coming from garbage collection and equivalents, by controlled fermentation processes; as well as the corresponding works of construction, importation and exportation of capital goods.
